Description
The STA Level 2 in Teaching Swimming is an accredited and internationally recognised course that allows you to become a qualified Swimming Instructor/Teacher. The course will teach you the fundamentals for teaching safe, engaging and progressive swimming lessons. You will learn how to teach a learner the basic techniques for the 4 swimming strokes, as well as health and safety, communication, safeguarding, motivation and feedback, and how to effectively plan and deliver classes to a range of abilities.
This qualification replaces the previous Award & Certificate structure, bringing everything together into one comprehensive Level 2 qualification.
It equips you with skills, knowledge and confidence needed to teach the full learn to swim pathway appropriate to the participant’s needs across all ability groups.
This qualification has been created for the needs of the learner, tutors, and employers, making it more accessible, efficient and enjoyable.
The course includes ‘blended learning’ options – flexible online theory plus exciting interactive programmes, with updated digital resources with more dynamic learning materials which are available on all devices, the course includes more poolside practice, which helps develop teaching confidence.

Prerequisites
Learners must be at least 16 years old, and be confident in the water.
